¨ Sanctuary
Choir ¨
The
Sanctuary Choir rehearses every Wednesday at 7:00 PM in the music suite.
Childcare is provided. Membership is open to adults of all ages. The only
requirements are love for the Lord and His music and willingness to learn the
musical skills necessary for good singing. The choir sings every Sunday for
the 11:00 AM worship service. Annual events include the Christmas musical,
the Easter musical, and the Composer Weekend in August. Visit a rehearsal
soon.
¨ Youth Choir ¨
Our
NEW youth choir, “SEEN AND HEARD,” consists of students in grades seven
through twelve, and rehearses in the music suite on Sundays at 4:15 PM. This
choir leads in worship for our evening worship service on the first Sunday of
each month at 5:15 PM. Other events planned for this year’s group are the
State Youth Choir Beach Retreat in Gulf Shores, and a possible weekend tour.
We have a place for you, please come join us.
¨ Children’s Choir ¨
Children’s
choirs are the foundation of a successful music ministry and First Baptist
offers a fully graded program led by an excellent staff. The children are
taught invaluable musical, spiritual, and social lessons. There are choirs
for children ages four through grade six. Rehearsals are Wednesdays at 5:30
PM. All choirs sing in our annual Hanging of the Green service in December
and in the Graded Choirs Recognition service in the spring. Each individual
choir may sing twice during the year in our morning worship service.
¨ Ensembles ¨
Vocal ensembles evolve out of our choral organizations.
These groups offer an extra challenge and commitment to active choir members
who desire service in this capacity. Our current such group is “Reflections,”
an adult ensemble which is presently preparing a Christmas musical, “For Unto
Y’all,” to be presented at our annual Christmas Festival on Sunday evening,
December 17. Membership in “Reflections” is by invitation and/or audition and
rehearsals are on Sundays at 7:00 PM.
¨ Handbells ¨
The FBC Handbell
Ensemble is made up of eleven ringers playing a three octave set of
Schulmerich Handbells. This ensemble plays annually during the Christmas on
the River week in Demopolis, usually at one of the restored mansions for open
house. They also play during several worship services in our own church
during the year. Membership in this group is by invitation and/or audition,
and rehearsals are on Mondays at 5:30 PM.
