Joy Ministry is the Senior Adult ministry of First Baptist Church. We have a very active Senior Adult group, and participate in many outreach and fellowship activities.
Joy Day is scheduled for the fourth Thursday of each month (3rd in November and December), at 10:00 am. Each Joy Day meeting includes a theme, a brief business meeting, a program (usually with an outside guest), and a pot-luck mean.
Besides our monthly meeting, we make occasional, one day, trips which usually include lunch at a restaurant we may find. Also, a group of our Senior Adults goes to the Southland Nursing Home in Marion on the second Tuesday of each month to sing an visit with the residents. FBC also has a choir comprised of Senior Adults. Rehearsals are at 9:00 am on Thursday mornings, and more details can be found under the Worship ministry).
Twice each year, in the the spring and fall, our Joy Group attends our three day state Baptist Senior Adult Retreat at Shocco Springs Assembly in Talladega, Alabama. Some years, we make a week long trip to a Senior Adult Conference, usually out of the state.
As you can see, our Senior Adult ministry is a very active group and all senior adults are invited to be a part of our ministry!
