¨ Dr. Rex D. Kent, Pastor ¨

Bro. Rex Kent, the Pastor at First Baptist Church, Demopolis, was raised in the state of Alabama. He made his profession of faith at the Dalraida Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL. As a teenager, Bro. Rex, surrendered his life to full-time Christian service. After graduating from Samford University (1978), he attended Southeastern Baptist Seminary receiving his M. Div. Degree in 1982. He received his D.Min Degree from Beeson Divinity School in 1996.

 

After graduating from Southeastern Seminary, Bro. Rex served as the Minister of Education and Youth at Coosada Baptist Church, Coosada, AL, for five years. Bro. Rex was then called as the Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Prattville AL. After serving in Prattville for over ten years, he came to be the Pastor of First Baptist Church, Demopolis, AL, in February of 1998.

 

Bro. Rex and his wife, Martha, have two sons, Darrell and David.

 

 

¨ Leslie H. Spiller, Minister of Youth / Education ¨

Leslie Spiller was raised in Aliceville, AL. He made his commitment to the Lord as a child at First Baptist Church of Aliceville. He felt God calling him into full time ministry at the age of 17. Leslie graduated in 1981 from Pickens Academy in Carrollton, AL, and Samford University in 1986. He received his Masters of Divinity in Christians Education from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY, in December of 1990.

 

Before moving to Demopolis, Leslie served as the Minister of Youth & Recreation at Calvary Baptist Church in Tupelo, MS.

 

Leslie and his wife, Traci, have two children, Maggie and Braden.

 

¨ Wm. Edward Rush, Minister of Music / Sr. Adults ¨

Ed Rush has been at First Baptist Church since October of 1996. Ed’s primary responsibilities include administration of the overall Music and Sr. Adult Ministries programs and staff, worship leader for Sunday services, and directing many of our choirs and ensembles.

 

Ed received his education from Pell City High School, Jacksonville State University, Samford University, and Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY.

 

Ed’s hobbies include woodworking, counted cross-stitch, and musical composition and arranging, for which he has been published in several Baptist Sunday School Board publications.
